MomsBestGifts Online Store with New Look!

Yes! MomsBestGifts Online Store is now back in operation. With new look and friendlier system. It took me around 1.5 weeks to transfer all the data from previous system to this new open source system Zen Cart. If you have not heard of it, actually it is a very popular online store system nowadays. There is another one known as Cube Cart too. But I would still prefer Zen Cart though cause it has many features to play around.

I must admit it still has flaws on some places, but give me time to sort it out ok?

There will be many cute rompers, suits, pants and socks in these few weeks time. Create an account in my system and subcribe to my newsletter to keep yourself informed on the new products arrival and promotion, ya!

Happy Shopping!

1. Cut potato and carrot into cubes
2. Soak the dried scallops in hot water and once it turns soft, peel it into small slices

4. Put (1) and (2) along with water that used to soak the dried scallops into the mixture of rice

How much water intake for breastfeeding mom?

I was quite surprise to know that too much of water intake for a breastfeeding mom will decrease her milk supply! Context below is taken from http://www.blisstree.com/breastfeeding123/.

What’s the rule about drinking water when you’re breastfeeding? It’s the same rule for everyone, breastfeeding or not: drink enough to satisfy thirst. Drinking any more than that can actually decrease your milk supply! One study showed that consuming 25 percent more fluids than the “drink to thirst” recommendation led to a decrease in milk supply. I also learned from lactation consultant Linda Wieser at the LLL area conference that drinking more than 80 ounces of water per day can reduce a woman’s potassium levels and have a negative impact on milk supply.

So, while it’s a good idea to keep a glass of water handy next to the place where you typically nurse, there’s no need to force yourself to drink extra water. Just enjoy a glass as you feel the need!

Before I stumbled upon this site, I drank a lot of water and my colleagues used to tease me "WATER BUFFALO" (Translated to Cantonese is "sui ngau").. LOL!

BABY & CHILDCARE The One Essential Parenting Book by Dr Spock's

This is the first book I bought after YiWen is delivered. I bought many pregnancy books previously but never on parenting books. So this is also my first parenting book. :) What I really loves about this book is it explain your child development age by age from newborn until adolescence (12-18years old), how to feed your baby/toddler, tips to improve feeding problems, how to raise kids into mentally healthy kids, expected behavioural problems and challenges during kids' growth, schooling and heath/safety issue. So detail! I mean, of cause a lot of the topics are not relevant now. But as a new parent, isn't it good to know more about the unexpected in the future? This book is thick, with total of 947 pages and cost me only RM 65.95! I really think it worth my money, it is income tax deductable too.. ahem, if only I still remember where I keep the book receipt. :P

LAUGHTER Is The Best Medicine

Have you heard of anyone says "Laugh till PUKE?". LOL! I never heard that, but I seen that! YiWen laughed till PUKE last week! Not exagerated but it is the truth. It happened like this, I was carrying this cheeky gal while having dinner at home with DH. Suddenly, DH accidentally choked and he coughed few times and YiWen started to laugh at DH's act. Then, DH tried to cough few times more, and she laughed even more.. then DH kept coughing non stop.. she laughed even louder like a mad gal. She choked on her own saliva and PUKE all her food out on her romper, my pants, legs, floors, everywhere.. aduiiiiii...! She still gigling after that though... *Slap Forehead*

She is sitting unsupportedly!

Another development report here. Hehehe.. YiWen is able to sit on her own at 5mth 2wks! Hooray! She need no Bumbo Sitter Chair anymore. Anyway, I had returned it back to Elaine last week, so it is time YiWen learn to sit on her own. Being paranoid, we dare not let her sit on the floor, who knows if she will lost balance and hit her head on the hard surface right? So we put her on her cot with all her toys around.. hehehe..

Fruit Purees : Pears

Though this is not the first time YiWen try on solid food. But this is actually the first time she tried on other solid food other than rice cereal and oats! Now she is reaching 6 months, she officially is declaring weaning and I'm sooooo super excited to make her variety of purees to let her taste. Lately I' m so busy collecting puree recipes from the net and I will create a blogroll for all new moms like me to refer. Save your time mah! :)

To start, I chose a simple puree which is Pears Puree. Easy!

I bought 2 pears, and some mini tupperwares from 100Yen Store.

Cut the pears into cubes, and steam it for 10-15mins. Let it cool a bit then pour into food processor and blend until it turn into purees form.

Finally, pour into the tupperware and fridge it. FYI, you can keep fruit and vegetables purees up to 2 days in fridge and 6 month in freezer.

YiWen's reaction: She loves it!
