My BreastFeeding Status

Ahem.. proudly to let all know that I'm still breastfeeding my little YiWen .. 1 more month to 1 year.. hehe.. ^_^

When in 1st mth, i told myself i will stop brfg after 3 mths. Reached 3rd mth, I told myself that I will stop at 6th month. When 6th mth, i will stop in 9mth.. and now here i am, at 11mth and still going.. still got supply.. still got engorgement and sometimes even engorged until blocked ducts occured! hehehe.. my hubby happy la.. coz no need to buy so much milk powder.. save cost konon.. :P

I found breastfeeding is extremely good, my little YiWen loves to latch on me. Especially when she is not feeling well... Last week, she had a throat infection which led to fever. 3 days fever, on and off.. once even reached to 39.3 degree Celcius. This is the first time she had fever which is not due to injection. 3 days consecutively was a BIG panic for me.. i had sleepless nite worrying her temperature, her diet (she refuse milk from bottle), her crankiness.. aiyo.. really big experience for me. :) And out of all this, brfg really soothed her at that time, beside making sure she is not starved, at least she is drinking milk from ME! She did dropped a few hundred grams, but she is gaining back after a week ... phew..

1 more month to BIG DAY!!

My precious is now at 11mths and 2 days old. Time really flies!

We are planning on how to celebrate this little cheeky gal's birthday. I personally prefer modest celebration such as small party at home with buffet catering with family, close relative and frens. But my in law prefer it in restaurant , you know those chinese 8-course meals restaurant. Next baby, we really hope to have our own arrangement and do it our ways.. :P

Bought YiWen a very cute princess-liked dress.. the dress is quite long, she isn't that tall yet, but at least the dress is not dragging on the floor.. want to see it? Wait till she wears it on her BIG DAY first la.. hehehe.. else no suprise!! :P

I'm back..

Wow.. can't imagine time flies.

I left my blog untouched for almost a month. Didn't even realize it until I saw the date of my last post.

I'm so busy setting up my online store and replenishing new stock lately until no time to blog. I believe we only can do one thing perfectly at a time. How to juggle both tasks without compromising either one? Anyone??

MomsBestGifts Online Store with New Look!

Yes! MomsBestGifts Online Store is now back in operation. With new look and friendlier system. It took me around 1.5 weeks to transfer all the data from previous system to this new open source system Zen Cart. If you have not heard of it, actually it is a very popular online store system nowadays. There is another one known as Cube Cart too. But I would still prefer Zen Cart though cause it has many features to play around.

I must admit it still has flaws on some places, but give me time to sort it out ok?

There will be many cute rompers, suits, pants and socks in these few weeks time. Create an account in my system and subcribe to my newsletter to keep yourself informed on the new products arrival and promotion, ya!

Happy Shopping!

How much water intake for breastfeeding mom?

I was quite surprise to know that too much of water intake for a breastfeeding mom will decrease her milk supply! Context below is taken from http://www.blisstree.com/breastfeeding123/.

What’s the rule about drinking water when you’re breastfeeding? It’s the same rule for everyone, breastfeeding or not: drink enough to satisfy thirst. Drinking any more than that can actually decrease your milk supply! One study showed that consuming 25 percent more fluids than the “drink to thirst” recommendation led to a decrease in milk supply. I also learned from lactation consultant Linda Wieser at the LLL area conference that drinking more than 80 ounces of water per day can reduce a woman’s potassium levels and have a negative impact on milk supply.

So, while it’s a good idea to keep a glass of water handy next to the place where you typically nurse, there’s no need to force yourself to drink extra water. Just enjoy a glass as you feel the need!

Before I stumbled upon this site, I drank a lot of water and my colleagues used to tease me "WATER BUFFALO" (Translated to Cantonese is "sui ngau").. LOL!

BABY & CHILDCARE The One Essential Parenting Book by Dr Spock's

This is the first book I bought after YiWen is delivered. I bought many pregnancy books previously but never on parenting books. So this is also my first parenting book. :) What I really loves about this book is it explain your child development age by age from newborn until adolescence (12-18years old), how to feed your baby/toddler, tips to improve feeding problems, how to raise kids into mentally healthy kids, expected behavioural problems and challenges during kids' growth, schooling and heath/safety issue. So detail! I mean, of cause a lot of the topics are not relevant now. But as a new parent, isn't it good to know more about the unexpected in the future? This book is thick, with total of 947 pages and cost me only RM 65.95! I really think it worth my money, it is income tax deductable too.. ahem, if only I still remember where I keep the book receipt. :P

LAUGHTER Is The Best Medicine

Have you heard of anyone says "Laugh till PUKE?". LOL! I never heard that, but I seen that! YiWen laughed till PUKE last week! Not exagerated but it is the truth. It happened like this, I was carrying this cheeky gal while having dinner at home with DH. Suddenly, DH accidentally choked and he coughed few times and YiWen started to laugh at DH's act. Then, DH tried to cough few times more, and she laughed even more.. then DH kept coughing non stop.. she laughed even louder like a mad gal. She choked on her own saliva and PUKE all her food out on her romper, my pants, legs, floors, everywhere.. aduiiiiii...! She still gigling after that though... *Slap Forehead*

She is sitting unsupportedly!

Another development report here. Hehehe.. YiWen is able to sit on her own at 5mth 2wks! Hooray! She need no Bumbo Sitter Chair anymore. Anyway, I had returned it back to Elaine last week, so it is time YiWen learn to sit on her own. Being paranoid, we dare not let her sit on the floor, who knows if she will lost balance and hit her head on the hard surface right? So we put her on her cot with all her toys around.. hehehe..

Fruit Purees : Pears

Though this is not the first time YiWen try on solid food. But this is actually the first time she tried on other solid food other than rice cereal and oats! Now she is reaching 6 months, she officially is declaring weaning and I'm sooooo super excited to make her variety of purees to let her taste. Lately I' m so busy collecting puree recipes from the net and I will create a blogroll for all new moms like me to refer. Save your time mah! :)

To start, I chose a simple puree which is Pears Puree. Easy!

I bought 2 pears, and some mini tupperwares from 100Yen Store.

Cut the pears into cubes, and steam it for 10-15mins. Let it cool a bit then pour into food processor and blend until it turn into purees form.

Finally, pour into the tupperware and fridge it. FYI, you can keep fruit and vegetables purees up to 2 days in fridge and 6 month in freezer.

YiWen's reaction: She loves it!

First Solid Food

YiWen started on solid food at 4.5 months with approval from her paediatrician. Her very first food was nestle cereal (green can). Wanted to buy Nestle brown rice but worried she may not like it.So to play safe I bought typical one. Ya.. she loves it! Now she is 5.5 months and I plan to start to give her oats. Oats is very nutritions and it will not cause constipation whereas cereal would.

I bought this in an Organic Shop nearby my house. I blended it to fine powder texture so that I do not need to cook it. Just add enough hot boiling water to dissolve it and then add breast milk/ formula milk and finally serve to your baby. Easy right? You may add appricot or banana in it too. :)

My Manual Breast Pump Experiences

This is my second time to try on manual pump. My very first was from First Year which own by my sister in law. I would give 6/10 for the pump.It is actually a good pump. Gentle and ease to use. The cons are same as all manual pumps in the world, it requires continuous hand pressure and no suction power control, thus it can't be used to clear blocked ducts.

Medela Manual Breast Pump is the second. The only pros is it islight. Lots of cons where it is too gentle until can't pump. No let down at all. You got to pull the handle to pump, so you do nothave free hand to do other thing. So leceh. Isks... Sorry, I'llgive 1/10 only.. Very dissapointing!

Suprise!!

Hehehehe .. {grin grin} Look at this! My parcels are finally arrived! kekeke.. Whole day anxiously waiting for it. What's in it??

hehehe.. toys lo... my toy and YiWen's toy.

Dah-dang.. My Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump... YiWen's Lamaze Inchworm!

Been thinking for almost a week whether want to invest into another pump not, just can't stand the low suction of my existing pump.. isks isks.. It is low suction to the extend that i need to convert from dual to single pump again. It just not powerful enough to be dual pump anymore. Sad sad.. this pump had served me well previously. At least it helped to relieved most of my blocked ducts. Sayang jugak with it. Initially plan to sell it, think twice keep aje la.. drawer still got space.. hehehe.. Next time i'll tell YiWen this pump helped to give you milk milk last time de. Of coz the biggest credit goes to me la coz i produce the mah!.. :P

Pumping in Public

Yesterday myself and DH took leave to go out outing. As it is a working day, as usual we sent YiWen to babysitter. Everytime I go out for long hours, I will bring out my MEDELA SWING pump which is battery operated so that i can pump in the car or nappy-changing room. DH plan to watch Ong Back 2 (kinda of violent Thai-movie) at noon. Isks! I need to pump at noon too. How le.. I can't find a nappy-changing room! I don't want to pump in the car too as the car park is very far! Just lazy! If I don't pump at noon, surely i will get blocked ducts after the movie. Don't know why suddenly i got an idea to pump in cineplex.. LOL. I told my DH about it, and he said NO COMMENT. So we went in and luckily only less than 10 spectators. Phew! Of coz we chose seats which are at secluded area for little privacy. There it goes.. my first public pumping! Happily bringing home a full bottle of milk for my little one. :)

She is flipping!

Finally YiWen is flipping! Hooray! Officially flipping at 4th month 3rd week. At first she only able to flip one side which is her favourite left side. Now at 5th month 1st week, she can flip at both sides. If you put her on any flat surface, she will flip immediately to show off her new skill.. LOL! Mommy so proud of you! Hehehe..

DH's Voluntary Task

As a working mom and also still exclusively brfg YiWen, it is actually a very tough job. Ya, I really salute all housewifes that full time taking care of babies. Really not easy. So daddy out there, please appreciate your wife. Not to ask you to day and night kiss your wife. Help out in doing few household tasks will make your wife very happy and touched.

For example, my DH actually volunteers to :
1) Wash and sterilize all breastmilk bottle, feeding bottles and teats.
2) Boil water and pour into thermos for my night use.
3) Hang out YiWen's clothes for drying. (I will do the washing)

Hey, don't ever think I'm being nasty ok.. I still let my hubby play PS3 and go out yam char with his buddies , ok? :P

Nice? This piece of artwork is done by DH. We always wanted to capture YiWen laughing face since her first day, but during her newborn age, her gestures changed in FLASH! Now, she plays and laughs very often, so we have many photos of her happy face! LOL.. ya , her smile and laughter really melt everyone's heart.. what a cheeky gal she is!

YiWen and her GLORIA & HIPPO hairband

YiWen is wearing GLORIA&HIPPO hairband bought by Ku-Jie (my DH's youngest sister) on Christmas day. I actually expected her to swing her head to get rid the hairband cause she really dislike anything on her head. Let me tell you, she dislikes hat and cap.. But suprisingly, she like this hairband. She didn't even realize she has it on.. she was giggling all the way while wearing it. LOL..
